Platform

Platform Capabilities

ChemVault is designed as a modular research infrastructure platform for chemistry data, scientific documents, compound information and AI-assisted knowledge workflows.

Capability Architecture

Independent modules with a shared knowledge layer.

Each capability can mature on its own while contributing to the same scientific data model: entities, sources, methods, claims, observations and project context.

Prototype

Paper-to-Database

Transforms unstructured papers, PDFs and reports into structured scientific records.

Use cases

Extract compounds, experimental variables, methods, tables and source-linked evidence.

Future direction

Reviewable extraction pipelines with source citations, confidence signals and exportable database records.

Prototype

Lab Report Parser

Parses experimental reports into entities, steps, conditions, observations and result summaries.

Use cases

Convert laboratory notes into searchable experiment records and reproducibility checklists.

Future direction

Support structured procedure capture, reagent linking, result tables and reusable experiment templates.

Prototype

Chemical Entity Recognition

Identifies chemical names, formulas, identifiers, materials, reaction terms and method phrases in scientific documents.

Use cases

Index chemistry-aware documents and connect extracted mentions to compound or method records.

Future direction

Improve entity linking across names, formulas, identifiers, synonyms and context-specific chemical mentions.

Concept

Literature Graph

Connects papers, claims, methods, entities and evidence relationships across research materials.

Use cases

Build literature maps, compare related work and trace scientific claims to source records.

Future direction

Expose navigable paper, compound, method and claim relationships for source-backed research review.

Concept

Experiment Knowledge Base

Stores experiment context, methods, conditions, observations, failures and outcomes in structured form.

Use cases

Maintain reusable project memory for experimental science and reproducible workflows.

Future direction

Connect experiments to compounds, protocols, datasets, negative results and project-level interpretation.

Research Workspace

A browsing and review surface for local records, reaction systems, reagents, materials, methods and evidence.

Use cases

Inspect chemistry records, source context and cross-linked knowledge inside the existing ChemVault site.

Future direction

Evolve into a workspace for notes, documents, datasets and AI-assisted research workflow review.

Secure File Infrastructure

A private layer for organising academic materials, experimental files and project resources.

Use cases

Host project files behind controlled access while connecting them to scientific knowledge workflows.

Future direction

Attach file metadata, document indexing and collaboration access controls to research project materials.

Platform direction

The platform is designed to connect document extraction, chemical search and research workflow intelligence without forcing the public site into server-only architecture.

The current implementation remains static and Cloudflare-friendly, while future services can attach through APIs, D1-backed records, private file infrastructure and controlled research tools.
